Newcastle on the Couch
We often hear Newcastle described as if it were a person. Something with a personality; something that is dealing with a number of issues.
If Newcastle took itself to a doctor, there’s no doubt that a number of physical problems could be diagnosed, but what about Newcastle’s psychological health?
The Newcastle Institute is going to put Newcastle on the couch and submit it to the care of a panel of local mental health experts.
The panel, including clinical psychology Tarnya Davis and former Chancellor of the University of Newcastle Professor Trevor Waring AM, will examine the patient, diagnose its illnesses and strengths and then suggest various strategies that the city could use to capitalise on the opportunities and address the problems.
Newcastle on the Couch will be held in the Hunter Room at Newcastle City Hall on Tuesday, 11 September from 7pm. Admission is a $5 donation.
More information about this event can be found on the Newcastle Institute’s web site.
