We were thrilled with the great turn out of graduates at the first ever Indonesian alumni get-together in Jakarta on 24 August.

The informal social lunch was a chance for alumni to catch-up with fellow classmates and visiting Dean of Law, Professor Sandeep Gopalan.

The group also shared ideas about developing an alumni network in Indonesia.

Indonesian alumni coordinator, Alba Fabian Martha said the cohort enjoyed the chance to reconnect.

"Alumni were really getting along and mingled during the lunch time by sharing their experiences about being a part of the University of Newcastle," he said.

"They also talked about their best moments back in Newcastle and some of work related conversation as well."

Graduates travelled from as far as Sulawesi Island, a 3000-mile flight and Bandung, a three-hour drive, to attend the lunch.
