Professor Fiona Arney, Chair of Child Protection and Director of the Australian Centre for Child Protection at the University of South Australia, will be presenting a free public seminar as part of the Master of Family Studies Seminar Series presented by the Family Action Centre at the University of Newcastle.

Titled Think Child, Think Family, Think Community: Multidisciplinary approaches to supporting families from refugee background, the seminar is a learning opportunity not to be missed for professionals, practitioners and students.

Professor Arney's career has been motivated by the desire to see children's lives transformed through enhancing the responsiveness of families, communities, service providers and systems to the needs of vulnerable children.

She has led concentrations of multidisciplinary research teams in South Australia and the Northern Territory, and has sixteen years research experience with children, parents, families and practitioners. She has a strong body of research especially in relation to Aboriginal children and families.

Professor Arney is a member of various research teams examining the organisational and individual pre-conditions required for the adoption and adaptation of promising practices.
