Central Coast Fashion Week 2013

Fashionistas flock to Central Coast for Fashion Week

Talented and emerging designers, models, artists, and hair and beauty professionals will be showcased at the inaugural 2013 Fashion Week Central Coast.

Fashion Week Central Coast (FWCC) is the first event of its kind to celebrate the growing fashion and creative industries in the Central Coast, with a range of events organised from September 1 to 7, 2013.

The event, which is coordinated by Regional Development Australia Central Coast (RDACC), in partnership with Central Coast organisations, including the University of Newcastle – Central Coast, has attracted the interest of local and national designers, artists, and hair and beauty professionals, whose talent will be put in the spotlight during the week of events.

“Fashion Week Central Coast is about building aspiration in our community and to encourage and to showcase the talented people we have here on the Central Coast,” RDACC CEO, Andrew Roach, said.

The Audrey Hepburn classic Funny Face will be screened as part of the Fashionable Flicks event to be held at the Avoca Beach Picture Theatre on Monday 2 September.  As well as the film screening, there will be a fashion parade, styling workshop and giveaways.

Celebrating the importance of having a positive outlook on our physical appearances is the aim of a unique engagement event organised as part of the FWCC.  Wear What You Want day on Wednesday 4 September, is part of the national Body Image and Eating Disorders Awareness Week, and will encourage Central Coast businesses, industry and students and staff from local schools, TAFE and University, to dress how they feel, and to spread the word about how the best accessory for looking good is a healthy body image.

Fashion and styling tips will be given at Westfield Tuggerah during a VIP Fashion Evening, with giveaways, refreshments, and advice from the shopping centre’s resident stylist, Kristen Denny-Combridge.

Fillies and colts who have dressed up for race day will be judged on their style sense by local fashionistas at the Wyong Gold Cup, Fashions on the Field event, on Friday 6 September.

The gala event of the FWCC – What the Frock! – will be held at the Mingara Recreation Club on Saturday 7 September, and will showcase the talents of more than 60 of the Central Coast’s talented and emerging designers, models, artists and hair and beauty professionals. Central Coast students will also assist in managing the event.

A red carpet entrance, pre-dinner drinks and canapés, entertainment and a three-course dinner and  drinks are included in the event admission price. To book a ticket, contact Mingara Recreation Club ticketing on (02) 4349 7888.
