Celebrating Our Volunteers in National Student Volunteer Week
4-10 August 2013 is National Student Volunteer Week, a time to thank student volunteers and encourage more young people to get involved and make a difference in their community.
This nationwide initiative presented by Volunteering Qld is the first dedicated to recognising and supporting student volunteering in Australia.
Universities and schools across the country are participating in the week by promoting student volunteering and the vital role it plays in building healthy communities.
In the lead-up to National Student Volunteer Week, the University of Newcastle's International Office, together with the Community Engagement Office, is joining together with our volunteers and community partners for our inaugural Volunteer Recognition Dinner.
Student volunteers, along with university and community staff who volunteer their own time, as well as provide support and encouragement to our student volunteers in a diverse range of programs, are an integral and valued part of the volunteering work we do in our communities.
The University of Newcastle is proud to partner with a wide range of community organisations in a variety of volunteering activities. We are also incredibly fortunate to be in partnership with individuals and organisations who give of their time freely to work with the University.
This will be an evening to recognise, celebrate and say thank you to those who give their time, energy, skills and passion to help build healthy, sustainable communities in our region.
