Join University of Newcastle alumnus, former Federal Court judge the Hon Justice Kevin Lindgren AM QC, as he returns to Newcastle to launch The Trace of Burning Stars. This ground-breaking book by Emeritus Professor Frank Bates examines the complex relationship between law and poetry.

Frank Bates is a widely-published Emeritus Professor of Law at the University of Newcastle. He has held visiting academic positions in Australia, Canada, the UK, USA and Hong Kong and worked with Australian government offices.

The Hon Kevin Lindgren AM QC is an esteemed University of Newcastle alumnus with a distinguished judicial career. He was a Federal Court judge from 1994 to 2010 and since retiring Justice Lindgren writes extensively on the law and is engaged in mediation and arbitration work.
