The University of Newcastle has a strong and vibrant research culture. Our research work is recognised for its impact and relevance to the region, the nation and the international community.
We have strong links with local health bodies and the community through the Hunter Medical Research Institute - the only medical research institute in regional Australia. The University's commercial arm, Newcastle Innovation, is highly regarded in transferring research outcomes to commercial reality.
Our Indigenous Higher Education Research Unit (Umulliko) facilitates the training, mentoring and support of emerging Indigenous researchers, and is recognised for the relevance of its research and impact on Indigenous issues.
