PhD and Research Masters

The School of Medicine and Public Health is committed to ongoing support of PhD and Research Masters candidates.

We provide a high standard of research supervision, as well as research degree candidates with material resources including financial support, laptop computers, office space and equipment, and writing and presentation skills workshops.

Note: 1 = High DEST degrees; 2 = Low DEST degrees.


Financial support

Candidates have access to Research Training Program funds allocated as follows:

PhD Candidates four years support at:

  • $2,000 per annum for High DEST full-time equivalent (FTE)
  • $1,500 per annum for Low DEST FTE

Masters Candidates two years support at:

  • $2,000 per annum for High DEST FTE
  • $1,500 per annum for Low DEST FTE

Authorisation for the expenditure of these funds rest with the Principal Supervisor and can be used for expenses including direct costs that will be used by the student in their research, travel, training, equipment, subscriptions and publications costs.
