The Master of Professional Accounting program is designed for students with a degree in a field other than accounting who wish to obtain a sound introduction to accounting concepts and procedures. The program will encompass studies in financial and management accounting, finance, taxation, business law and auditing.
The program duration is three trimesters full-time or six trimesters part-time. The Master of Professional Accounting program runs on a trimester system at Newcastle City, i.e. three terms per year and on a Semester basis at the Sydney Bathurst Street location. The Master of Professional Accounting requires 120 units, gained through the completion of twelve courses worth 10 units each. Students are required to complete all twelve courses from the core courses.
A Master degree shall be conferred as an Ordinary Degree, except that, in cases where a candidate has achieved a Grade Point Average of 6.0 or above, the degree will be conferred "With Distinction".

The program is structured to satisfy the Guidelines for Joint Accreditation of Tertiary Courses by the Professional Accounting Bodies (May 2005) issued jointly by CPA Australia and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA), and the Core Curriculum Areas (2004) issued by the ICAA.
Graduation from an accredited accounting program facilitates initial entry to Associate membership of CPA Australia and (subject to employment and supervision requirements) eligibility for enrolment in the ICAA's CA Program.
Students completing the program will meet the academic requirements for Associate membership of CPA Australia and enrolment in the CPA Program, and for enrolment in the Chartered Accountants Program of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
