Is marketing for you?

If you are looking to advance your marketing career, move into a professional marketing position, or progress into a management role, then the Master of Marketing will serve you well. This program provides you with the ability to evaluate existing and potential market opportunities, to develop strategies for achieving organisational outcomes, and to manage the relevant processes in corporate, social, not-for-profit, small business, or public sector contexts.

In addition to a deep knowledge base, excellent marketers have strong skills in process management, analysis, strategy and communication. Your participation in the Master of Marketing will help you build your knowledge and expertise in the latest marketing techniques and technologies, and assist you in applying them to contemporary business challenges. The program offers you the opportunity to interact with academics and practitioners who have a wide range of industry and research experience. In doing so, you will gain a specialised and well regarded professional qualification.

What you will study

The Master of Marketing program consists of eight courses - five core and three directed. The core courses provide strong foundations for managing both ’markets’ (business customers and end consumers), and ‘marketing’ (the processes that enable development and management of strategy). These core courses are:

  • Managing Under Uncertainty
  • Foundation of Business Analysis
  • Marketing Management and Planning
  • Consumer Decision Making and Behaviour
  • Global Marketing Strategy and Planning

At least three directed courses must be selected from marketing specialisation. These include:

  • Digital Marketing
  • Services and Relationship Marketing Management
  • Integrated Marketing Communications
  • Brand Development and Marketing

Your future

The Master of Marketing program is comprehensive, contemporary and practical. It will develop your professional expertise in the processes and application of modern marketing. The program will provide you with depth of knowledge in the field and simultaneously build your skills in analysing situations, and developing and managing marketing strategy. These outcomes will facilitate you in meeting employment challenges with confidence and conviction.

By completing the Master of Marketing program, you will differentiate yourself from other marketers in that you will possess a broad range of marketing skills and you will understand how these skills inter-relate with other organisational functions. These insights will enable you to contribute widely to the management of organisational offerings, customer-perceived value, strategic positioning and competitive advantage, in both local and global contexts. The relevant knowledge and skills underlie many senior roles including marketing managers and executives, marketing research analysts, and product and brand managers.
