What you will study

The University of Newcastle  has developed a contemporary and unique program that is highly regarded both nationally and internationally. You will develop and learn new skills, sharpen your ability to critically analyse digital media design and engage in modern teaching techniques. Core courses to support your drive and direction include:

To ensure that the process goes smoothly for you, you should complete the following steps before applying:

  3. Check whether your postgraduate program has a Semester or a Trimester closing date. Please view the application closing date.
  4. If you are from a non-English-speaking background, you need to satisfy the University's English language requirements and ensure that you can provide evidence of your English proficiency if required.

You will be considered for entry based on criteria such as your undergraduate studies and/or equivalent prior learning and/or relevant work experience.

Make sure you double check the special entry requirements, assumed knowledge or recommended studies for the degree:

The Master of Digital Media is an 80 or 120-unit postgraduate qualification.

For admission into the 80 unit program, applicants must have one of the following qualifications or equivalent:

  • Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma; or
  • Bachelor Honours Degree; or
  • Bachelor Degree in a related field plus one year’s relevant work experience; or
  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma plus five years' relevant work experience.

For admission into the 120 unit program, applicants must have one of the following qualifications or equivalent:

  • Bachelor Degree in a related field; or
  • At least seven years’ relevant work experience.

Related fields and relevant work experience includes digital media technology, web and interactive media development, digital media industries, computer games, CGI effects development, consultancy and education.

Work experience can be identified through: certified copies of all relevant qualifications, a detailed CV, and a statement of service or signed letters from employers confirming your role, duties and period of employment.
