Transport Operations Manager

Transport operations managers are responsible for the successful execution of transport services such as freighting. They take a hands-on role in ensuring that management strategies and processes are carried out, responding to and reporting back to management on problems or issues that arise. They also develop new, more efficient procedures and may manage scheduling, staff recruitment, budgeting and fleet maintenance. Operations managers need excellent people management and communications skills as well as excellent knowledge of occupational health and safety issues. A thorough understanding of the supply chain process and factors contributing to its success is integral for this role and as a consequence both tertiary qualifications and extensive experience are almost always required.
