Multimedia Developer

Multimedia developers use computers to create and manipulate graphic images, animations, sound, text and video into programs with instructional and graphic strategies.  These programs are used to produce CD/DVD ROMs, information kiosks, multimedia presentations, websites and entertainment/education products.

Multimedia developers may specialise as computer-based graphic designers, instructional designers, multimedia programmers, author-based programmers, project managers, digital video/sound editors or animators.   Many use a combination of these skills depending on the task at hand.

Multimedia Developers may liaise with clients, prepare flow diagrams and storyboards, prepare graphics and other media for editing as well as managing the development and implementation of multimedia products. To become a multimedia developer usually requires formal qualifications in information technology or digital media studies. Creative flair as well as technical skills are require in this field.
