Manufacturing Systems Engineer

Manufacturing systems engineers work in multi-disciplinary teams to design, install and maintain systems and machinery in the manufacturing cycle of products. They design, construct, maintain and modify equipment used in converting raw materials to usable products. They seek to improve production efficiency in the use of time, resources and energy and are responsible for seeing a job through all the stages of production.

Manufacturing systems engineers are often employed by production factories, processing plants and construction companies. They aim to maximise the quality and volume of products while dealing with increasing energy costs and global competition. Manufacturing systems engineers therefore need a broad knowledge of mechanical and sustainable engineering principles, an understanding of business practices, be able to identify, analyse and solve problems, be practical and creative and have the ability to work as part of a team in the manufacturing process.
