Lighting Operator/Technician

Lighting Operator/Technicians are involved with rigging and controlling electric lights for art and entertainment venues (theatre or live music venues) or in video, television, or film production. Duties involved in this position can include operating and controlling lighting equipment,  drafting of  light plots, performing minor repairs, cleaning and adjusting lighting equipment and assisting supervisor in coordinating technical requirements such as determining equipment needs and determining when to schedule work so all deadlines are met. It is possible to work as a film and television lighting operator without formal qualifications, however, entry into this role can be improved with qualifications in Media Production or a related field. Physical fitness is required for this work as is strong technical and creative skills.
