Film/Television Production Assistant

Film and television production assistants work closely with the director or producer to ensure that all stages of production process run smoothly and according to schedule. Their role may include but is not limited to; organising studio equipment and facilities, copying and distributing scripts and production plans, keeping records and handling administrative issues such as copyright. There is no formal educational path to becoming a production assistant though studies in film and media or the completion of specific technical courses are often useful in gaining employment. As with many careers in the entertainment industry opportunities are competitive, work is often on a contractual basis and work experience and contacts play an important role in gaining employment.
