Environmental Logistician

Environmental logisticians have a specialised expertise in and awareness of environmental issues and how these affect processes in industries such as manufacturing and mining. In practice, this usually involves either the promotion and creation of environmentally sustainable logistics practices or the management of environmental resources involved in projects; for example controlling the creation of dust in large scale construction. While environmental logisticians analyse and create strategic plans and processes in a variety of different industries, they are valued by organisations who are aiming to implement more environmentally sustainable practices and/or those who are required to comply with environmental legislation and standards. Typically, a professional working in this field would have extensive training and experience in supply chain & logistics as well as in environmental science/sustainability. Employment opportunities exist in consultancies, government and in-house in industry.
