Career

Clinical Midwife Educator

Midwife Educators are healthcare professionals who have gained a high level of expertise in Midwifery. They educate and train aspiring or newly graduated Midwives. They work in academic and hospital settings, design curricula, develop courses, mentor and teach students. They speak at conferences, perform clinical research and evaluate training programs.

The role of a Midwife Educator requires qualifications and substantial clinical experience as a Registered Midwife. Increasingly, to go along with experience, postgraduate study will be required. Typical postgraduate options would include a Masters in Midwifery, a postgraduate certificate in Midwifery education, or as a minimum, a certificate in Assessment and Workplace Training from a TAFE institution.
