Why study natural history illustration (Honours) at UoN?

Already have an undergraduate degree in illustration, graphic design, science or fine art? Wanting to develop your creativity and engage with the Australian environment? Our one year Bachelor of Natural History Illustration (Honours) degree allows you to pursue your interest in illustration without needing to undertake another three year degree.

With increasing competition in all sectors of employment, students who graduate with an Honours degree have a distinct advantage. It is often considered by employers as an added skill and has been used by previous graduates to pursue higher positions and salaries. You can develop and carry out research on a topic of interest, potentially leading to further academic study such as a PhD.

The Bachelor of Natural History Illustration (Honours) is a one year full-time (or equivalent part-time) degree designed to encourage creative, innovative and scientific approaches to the visual interpretation of the natural world.

Natural history illustrators are employed or work freelance in publishing, display and exhibition fields in science institutions, galleries, museums, libraries and botanic and zoological gardens.
