Why study mathematics and science at UoN?

In this combined degree you can study mathematics and science together completing two qualifications over only four years.

In general, studying a combined degree will give you a greater breadth of learning and enhance your academic and professional qualities gained in each separate degree.

You will gain practical experience in problem solving, critical thinking, written and oral presentation and get exposure to internationally recognised research groups.

The Bachelor of Mathematics/Bachelor of Science combined degree program provides students with an opportunity to undertake concurrent study, and to complete two awards over a period of four years.

These skills provide you with diverse career opportunities working in the public sector, private industry, non-government aid agencies or community organisations. You can work in fields related to technology management, production, the environment, minerals and resources and agriculture.

Benefits of a combined degree

Along with core (compulsory) and directed (chosen from a list of approved courses) courses in mathematics, students undertake core and directed mathematics/statistics or science courses and electives according to their particular areas of interest or majors. Find out more

Benefits of a combined degree

A combined degree means that you can achieve two qualifications in one go. After four years of full time study, you will graduate with two degree qualifications - study them separately and it can take up to six years full-time.

The variety in this degree means you can satisfy your interest in mathematics and science simultaneously.

Combining mathematics and science gives you a breadth of professional and academic qualities, opening up a broad range of career options and making you highly desirable to employers.

There are some special requirements with combined degrees. You must undertake a program of study that incorporates the requirements for each individual degree.
