Learn more about the Bachelor of Laws
The University of Newcastle law degree was the first in Australia to integrate the study of law with practical skills, training and experience. As a student you will have the opportunity to undertake work placement at the University of Newcastle Legal Centre which is both a legal practice and a teaching facility. You may deal with real legal matters such as divorces, tenancy disputes, victims’ compensation and high profile cases including important public interest cases. Our Law on the Beach legal clinics equip students with practical skills and experience on the frontline. Students record client case histories, brief lawyers and sit in on legal advice.
A combined degree program means that you can achieve two qualifications in one go. You will have the advantage of graduating with two degrees, in less time than it would take to complete them separately.
For example, if you are interested in both arts and science, you can complete the requirements for both degree programs by choosing the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science. After four years of full time study, you will graduate with two degree program qualifications. Study them separately and it can take you up to six years full-time.
A combined degree will increase your career options, skills and knowledge, enhancing your academic and professional qualities, making you more desirable to employers. You will have more variety in your studies and satisfy more than one of your interests – you may be keen on drama and biology, this way you can study both.
There are some special requirements with combined degree programs. Students must undertake a program of study that incorporates the requirements for each individual degree program.
