Why study civil/surveying engineering at UoN?

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil) - Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Surveying) combined degree provides you with an opportunity to undertake concurrent study in civil engineering and surveying, completing two degrees in just five years of full-time study. The degree offers a greater breadth of learning, enhancing the academic and professional qualities gained in each degree. At the same time, it recognises the increasing need for students to graduate with multidisciplinary skills.

Career opportunities open to graduates of this degree are similar to those of civil engineers in major engineering construction works, however graduates may also work as survey practitioners, consultants, managers, teachers or researchers.

The starting salary for our graduates is one of the highest in the country and our graduates express a high level of satisfaction with the degree.

Benefits of a combined degree

A combined degree means that you can achieve two qualifications in one go. You will have the advantage of graduating with two degrees, in less time than it would take to complete them separately.

For example, if you are interested in both arts and science, you can complete the requirements for both degrees by choosing the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science. After four years of full time study, you will graduate with two degree qualifications. Study them separately and it can take you up to six years full-time.

A combined degree will increase your career options, skills and knowledge, enhancing your academic and professional qualities, making you more desirable to employers. You will have more variety in your studies and satisfy more than one of your interests – you may be keen on drama and biology, this way you can study both.

There are some special requirements with combined degrees. Students must undertake a program of study that incorporates the requirements for each individual degree.
