Studying the combined degree Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)/ Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental) will qualify you with two degrees after just five years of full-time study.
The combined degree offers you a greater breadth of learning, enhancing the academic and professional qualities gained in each separate degree. At the same time, it recognises the increasing need for you to graduate with multidisciplinary skills.
You will develop skills in the design and building of large scale projects such as roads, bridges, airports, major buildings and water supply systems whilst also gaining skills to assess and model the potential damage and long-term environmental problems resulting from human activity and importantly, devise environmentally sustainable and economic solutions.
Career opportunities open to graduates of this degree are similar to those of civil engineers in major engineering construction works, however graduates particularly find work where projects are environmentally sensitive and may work as consultants and assessors in the early stages of the project.
Graduates from this combined degree enjoy excellent career prospects as they are involved in so many facets of everyday life and its associated infrastructure.

A combined degree means that you can achieve two qualifications in one go. You will have the advantage of graduating with two degrees, in less time than it would take to complete them separately.
For example, if you are interested in both arts and science, you can complete the requirements for both degrees by choosing the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science. After four years of full time study, you will graduate with two degree qualifications. Study them separately and it can take you up to six years full-time.
A combined degree will increase your career options, skills and knowledge, enhancing your academic and professional qualities, making you more desirable to employers. You will have more variety in your studies and satisfy more than one of your interests – you may be keen on drama and biology, this way you can study both.
There are some special requirements with combined degrees. Students must undertake a program of study that incorporates the requirements for each individual degree.
