Psychology at the University of Newcastle

"One of the things I love about Psychology is you get so many options. Not only do you focus on counselling or clinical psychology, you can also go on to do things like developmental psychology or neuropsychology." - Kirsty

Psychology is a fascinating area of science that attempts to examine the cause of human behaviour and use this understanding to solve practical problems.

Psychology is growing in popularity and is predicted to experience very strong job growth over the next four years according to the Department of Employment.*

Offered through the Faculty of Science and Information Technology, the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at the University of Newcastle is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC), which ensures education and training is conducted to the highest possible standards so graduates are well equipped, where possible, to safely practice as a registered psychologist.

The University of Newcastle received research rankings equivalent to world-class standard and above in psychology according to Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) 2012, and we are one of only four institutions in the country to achieve this. Our staff are actively involved in research, which means you will be taught using the latest developments and advancements happening in the real world.
