Description

The Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (BBUS/BIE) is a 320 unit program offered on a full-time (or equivalent part-time) basis. The program starts with broad core courses and then progresses to one of six major sequences of study offered in the degree:

  • Politics and International Relations;
  • Human Resource Management;
  • International Business;
  • Leadership and Management;
  • Marketing;
  • Tourism and Event Management.

Program learning outcomes

On successful completion of the program students will have:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective skills to work independently and in teams.
  • Critical thinking and analytical problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of theories, models and concepts relevant to Human Resource Management; International Business; Leadership and Management; Marketing; Tourism and Event Management; or Politics and International Relations.
  • Proficiency in the utilisation of information and technology in business.
  • Business skills that incorporate understanding of ethical, economic, regulatory and global perspectives.

Total units required

320 units

Program duration

4 years full-time or part-time equivalent up to 10 years maximum.

International students studying this program on campus are required to enrol full time to comply with their student visa requirements and complete their study in the standard minimum program duration. Program requirements

The Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship requires students to successfully complete 320 units, which is comprised of:

  • 160 units of core courses; 
  • One 70 unit Business major (10 units of Core courses also count towards the major for a total of 80 units); 
    • Please note the Entrepreneurship and Innovation major is not available to students studying this combined degree.
  • 10 units from the Career-ready placement course list; and
  • 80 units of electives. 

Students must not exceed a maximum of 100 units at any level in each of the component programs.

Students must only complete courses that form part of the program and must not complete more than 320 units. 

Students may utilise their elective courses to undertake a double major. Students must ensure that each major has 60 units of unique courses.

Program Revisions 2023

From Semester 1, 2023 the Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship program has been revised to remove 10 units of electives, which has been replaced by a 10 unit Career-ready placement course. 

Students who commenced prior to 2023 will not be required to undertake 10 units from the Career-ready placement course list and will retain 10 units of electives. Continuing students may choose to take a course from the Career-ready placement course list as an elective.

Honours is available to students as a separate program with a duration of one year full-time (or part-time equivalent) to those who meet the entry requirements.

Through the Pathways and Academic Learning Support Centre, students can access a free suite of NUPrep preparation courses as well as Academic Learning Support.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students can draw on the assistance and support provided by the Indigenous Student Support and Development service through the Wollotuka Institute.

All International Students enrolled in the program will be provided with an orientation to familiarise them with the rules, expectations, facilities and services offered by the University.
