English language support
Learning Development offers a range of programs for international students and students with English as an additional language.
Diagnostic Academic English Language Tool – DAELT
DAELT is an online resource that helps international students and students with English as an additional language self-diagnose their ability in academic reading, writing, listening and speaking. DAELT is most useful when students complete the assessment soon after they enrol. Sessions are held at the beginning of each semester and trimester. You can register here.
- It takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete the online reading, listening and writing components, followed by 15-20 minutes for the face-to-face speaking component.
- After you complete DAELT, you will receive results and feedback about your skills in each of the four areas.
- Based on your results, you can register for DAELT follow-up and English language workshops to help further develop your academic English.
English language workshops
Learning advisers who specialise in English language support run workshops in grammar, pronunciation, reading, writing, speaking and listening, as well as discipline-specific sessions, such as clinical communication and listening.
