Most buildings are open during business hours, but some restricted spaces need a key or electronic access card. There is also a process for after hours access.

Access

Keys and electronic access

Most buildings are open during business hours, however there are a small number of restricted spaces.

If you need to get access to a secure room or building you must use either:

  • key request application (PDF, 286KB)
  • electronic access request application (PDF, 287KB)
  • TAFE student access card application form (PDF, 226KB) – TAFE students at Central Coast campus only.
  • To apply for special access:

    1. choose your relevant form
    2. complete the form electronically
    3. print the form and get your supervisor to sign it
    4. ask your supervisor to send the form in the internal mail to Infrastructure and Facilities Services (address on form).

Students will be notified by email once their application has been processed. Electronic access is remotely added to your student ID card but keys will need to be picked up from Infrastructure and Facilities Services in the Services Building at Newcastle campus (Callaghan) or Facilities Management building at Central Coast (Ourimbah). Photo ID will need to be provided when picking up keys, and they must be collected within one month. If keys have not been collected in this time a new application form will need to be submitted.

At the end of your study at UoN, please return all keys and access cards to Infrastructure and Facilities Services at either Newcastle or Central Coast campus.
