Wired
The wired network provides you with access to corporate systems, intranet-based resources and the Internet. The network operates across the Newcastle (Callaghan) and Central Coast (Ourimbah) campuses, the Newcastle city precinct and Sydney locations.
We will connect your University-provided staff computer to the wired network when it is first installed. You can then login to the network by entering your Uni-ID and password.
Requesting a new network outlet
We can arrange installation and/or relocation of network outlets if you need to move around. Please provide a floor plan showing the new network locations when you send your request to the IT Service Desk.
Note: charges will apply for installation and relocation services.
I need a wired network port activated
Not all network port outlets are active. You can test a port by plugging an IP telephone in - if it starts up, the port is activated. One active port only is required for an IP telephone and computer. You can request an existing port to be activated through the IT Service Portal by clicking here.
Problem connecting with a byob computer?
If your computer is a "BYOD" (bring your own device), access to the University's wired network and the Internet may not be possible UNTIL you manually configure your computer settings.
Follow the step by step instructions for your operating system.
