Enterprise agreements
Our enterprise agreements set out our employment conditions at the University of Newcastle. They cover a range of conditions such as pay, leave and performance.
Annual leave accrued in a calendar year is required to be taken within the period of the twenty (20) working days following the commencement of the University's annual closedown. Staff may access their annual leave entitlement during the year with prior approval of the Head of School.
Academic staff are encouraged to discuss and plan annual leave with their supervisor and book it in HRonline.
Staff may request to cash out an amount of paid annual leave on reasonable grounds. Other than in exceptional circumstances, the maximum amount of annual leave that may be cashed out during the life of the enterprise agreement is two (2) weeks.
