We support all of our staff to thrive in their careers and we are proud to be an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality.

Employer of Choice for Gender Equality

The University has a world-class track record in equity where we support women to thrive in their careers.  We have achieved Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) citation, acknowledging UON as a national role model for innovation and best practice on issues of workplace gender equality.

We are one of only 76 organisations, including 11 Universities nationally to achieve the citation.

For further details about this citation visit the Workplace Gender Equality Agency website. You can also read about one of our highlighted initiatives.

In line with the NeW Directions Strategic Plan 2013-15 (PDF, 934KB), we are building the capacity of our female staff and working towards equal representation of men and women across all levels of the organisation.

By increasing the proportion of academic and professional women in senior leadership positions and maintaining our status as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality we will achieve a workplace where our female staff can reach their full potential.

We are already making some great progress in building the capacity of women at U0N with an increase in female senior managers and female academic staff and a steady decrease in the pay gap.

Focus will also be given to flexible working arrangement and other initiative aimed at supporting men and women including those with family or caring responsibilities.

Our University has a Workplace Gender Equality Agency Plan Compliance Report (PDF 158KB) which outlines how we will continue to meet our equity and diversity goals.
