This course will study in depth the significance of the doctrine on Christ and investigate the primary sources of early Christianity. It will clarify the heritage of earlier Christian Faith in Christ and draw consequences for the contemporary Life of Faith.

Objectives Upon completion of this course students will be expected to:
1. Examine the core question whether the authors of the Bible have perceived Christ as God;
2. Discuss the main Christological titles and Christological creeds in the earlier Church;
3. Expose the various contemporary Christological theologies;
4. Re-contextualize the Christology for the third millennium;
5. Demonstrate an understanding of their commitments of Faith in Christ.
Content Themes will include: Christology of the Gospel; the Christ of St. Paul; the Christ of the Church Fathers; Ecumenical Councils in the Early Church; the Christ of M. Luther; the Christ of the Philosophers; the Christ from above; the Christ from below; Christologies of liberal Theologians; Catholic Christology; Christ as Liberator, Christology of Feminist Theologians, Christ as Corpus Mysticum; Christ and Liturgy; Christ and other religions; Christ in secular world.
