The course expands on fundamental professional attributes necessary for professional practice. The course discusses the professional issues involved in clinical speech pathology, including management issues involved in caseload & service delivery, quality improvement, information technology and research in clinical practice. Job seeking skills and career development will also be covered.

Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Synthesise information gained from a range of sources (including clinical research, institutional documentation) to evaluate workplace issues that affect the quality and efficiency of service provision
2. Critically evaluate issues that arise in relation to the diversity in the ways in which speech pathology services are provided locally, nationally, and globally
3. Demonstrate creativity and innovation in communicating about aspects relevant to speech pathology
4. Apply the principles of reflective practice to develop an individualized learning and career plan

Transition Only applicable to students who enrol in SPTH4010 in Semester 2, 2012. If they do not successfully complete, the students have the option to repeat by enrolling in the new course SPTH4100 in Semester 1, 2013.
