Adopts a postmodern, narrative, social constructionist approach offering ideas and techniques where students develop an understanding of how the welfare state constructs people's realities. Its focus will primarily be the development of skills in narrative therapy in addition to the specific development of anti-oppressive principles of welfare practice.

Objectives After the successful completion of this course, students should be able to demonstrate:

1.Knowledge of the ways of writing within Narrative Therapy

2.Familiarization and be able to compare other traditional approaches to therapy

3.Application of narrative techniques with radical/structural approaches of therapy
Content The course covers a wide range of narrative practices including externalization, re-membering, therapeutic letter writing, the use of rituals. It also offers a progressive critique of narrative practice and outlines a more radical counter-hegemonic practice.
