Allows students to undertake a supervised program of reading on a topic not currently offered by the School of Social Sciences, but which is an area of expertise of a staff member in the School. The reading to be covered and the associated program of study is established by way of negotiation between the student and the responsible member of academic staff. Enrolment is dependent upon the permission of the Head of School, and the availability of staff and resources.

Objectives On successful completion of this course students will be able to:
1. Develop a critical understanding of an agreed area of debate within social science.
2. Criticise in an informed manner the relevant material in a broad range of social science texts.
