Minor Thesis Part II

Provides support to the student to continue the groundwork conducted in Minor Thesis Part I, working with the same supervisor. Part II requires the completion of the activities that will be described in the Methods section of the thesis, up to but not including data analysis. This may involve sampling, data collection, detailed literature searching and development of measurement instruments.
Students may enrol in Minor Thesis Part II only and complete the remaining parts in subsequent semesters, or may enrol in one or more of the remaining parts concurrently.

Objectives At the end of the course, students will have completed the activities that will be described in the Methods section of the thesis, up to but not including the data analysis.
Content Guided by their supervisors, with whom they make regular contact either personally or by telephone or e-mail, students implement the methodology of their research project. This may involve but is not restricted to the development and implementation of a sampling strategy, data collection, development of measurement instruments, or implementation of a detailed literature search.

Assessment Items
Essays / Written Assignments The supervisor must review and approve at least one draft of the Methods section of the thesis. This is assessed as satisfactory or unsatisfactory. Unsatisfactory assessment items are required to be rewritten based on feedback from the supervisor and resubmitted until judged to be satisfactory. The student is then given an Ungraded Pass for the course.
