This Unit will provide students with a more detailed understanding of contemporary population health risks and challenges posed by chronic or non-communicable disease of public health significance in Australia, the Region and Globally.

Objectives By the end of this course they will understand

1. the biological, social and economic causes of these diseases
2. the current evidence-based population health responses to the diseases
3. chronic diseases within significant population groups
Content Introduction to Chronic Diseases and injury followed by tutorials on Tobacco and Tobacco use in Chronic Disease, Nutrition and Chronic Disease, Physical Activity in Chronic Diseases,Drug, Alcohol and Substance Use Control, Cancer Control, Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease control, Diabetes Control, Injury Control, Mental Health, Co-morbidity and Iatrogenic Disease.
