This course is not part of an APAC accredited sequence. This course focuses on the application of theory and evidence-based knowledge to address specific mental health problems in the community. Students will learn how to evaluate the current parameters of a community/public health problem, such as suicidal behaviours. Course content is driven from a psychological perspective, but emphasises a multidisciplinary approach to understanding and improving major health problems. Students will learn how to develop and evaluate programs for treatment, research, and improvement of a specific community health problem. The course includes detailed discussion of suicidal behaviours and suicide prevention as a leading, and worldwide, health concern.

| Content | This course will provide students with background knowledge on community health problems and programs aimed at providing community assistance. Students will gain knowledge and skills in designing, implementing and evaluating community health and mental health programs.
