Advanced topics in research methodology and statistics relevant to the current set of projects undertaken by the cohort of students at this level. Complex research designs are discussed, including experimental and applied psychology research, qualitative and quantitative methods and issues related to projects involving pre-existing data sets. Additional advanced material in the statistical analysis of research data including power analysis, meta-analysis, ANCOVA and analysis of multi-way frequency data.
Students CANNOT take PSYC4000 with any of the following courses: PSYC4120, PSYC4220, PSYC409A or PSYC409B.

Objectives At the successful completion of this course, students will have:
1. Gained knowledge in research methods and research ethics that is suitable for a professional psychologist.
2. Expanded the following research skills:
* selecting and administering appropriate statistical tests
* interpreting the results of statistical tests
* interpreting and critically evaluating research papers.
Content The course will cover a variety of advanced topics in research methods, such as measurement, multivariate statistics, meta-analysis, and program evaluation.
Replacing Course(s) PSYC4120, PSYC4220 and PSYC4090A and PSYC4090B.
Transition Students CANNOT take PSYC4000 with any of the following courses:
PSYC4120, PSYC4220, PSYC409A or PSYC409B.
