Not available in 2012
This course strengthens students' knowledge and understanding of human development and behaviour, and extends students' ability to work with people with mental illness and disorders. Studies in life-span development and contemporary theories of human biological, psychological and social development, behaviour, and adaptation are designed to enable students to more effectively utilise evidence-based interventions such as basic cognitive behaviour therapy. Students will examine therapeutic options applicable for use by health care professionals in health care settings. These options will include a range of e-therapies available for high-prevalence disorders such as anxiety and depression. Tutorials focus on exploring therapeutic options and strengthening students' capacity for self-reflection and therapeutic engagement.
