ContentModule 1 - Professional Practice Students who successfully complete this course will have demonstrated that they: * practice in accordance with legal, professional and ethical nursing frameworks * practice in a way that acknowledges the dignity, values, beliefs and rights of individuals/groups * practice in a culturally safe manner through the sensitive and supportive identification of cultural issues Module 2 - Critical thinking and analysis Students who successfully complete this course will have demonstrated that they: * practice within an evidence based framework * undertake self-evaluation of nursing practice * critically reflect on their own nursing practice and identify professional development needs * seek additional knowledge and /or information when presented with unfamiliar situations. Module 3 - Provision and coordination of care Students who successfully complete this course will have demonstrated that they: * use the clinical reasoning cycle as a structured approach to client care * use an evidence-based assessment framework to collect data about the physical, socio-cultural and mental health of individuals * provide comprehensive, safe, effective and evidence based nursing care to achieve identified health outcomes and goals * respond to client deterioration rapidly and appropriately * communicate changes in the individual's condition accurately and succinctly with other members of the health care team Module 4 - Collaborative and therapeutic practice Students who successfully complete this course will have demonstrated that they: * establish therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries * apply a quality use of medicines framework to ensure the safe administration of medications * establish positive and collaborative working relationships with colleagues * communicate in a written form that is comprehensive, logical, clear and concise, with accurate spelling and only acceptable abbreviations used * use verbal and electronic communication skills effectively * demonstrate sensitivity, awareness and respect for cultural identify and spiritual needs * use relevant principles to ensure the safe administration of medications * use ergonomic principles to prevent injury and promote client comfort * adhere to occupational health and safety legislation. | |||||
