Description
This course examines the application of nutrition and dietetics knowledge in the field of child and family health and nutrition. The course aims to develop a holistic approach to optimising the nutritional health of this group.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process and its application to disease prevention and management in babies, children, adolescents.
2. Collect, organise, and assess information related to the health and nutritional status of babies, children, and adolescents, using the Nutrition Care Process
3. Interpret and translate scientific knowledge into practical and patient-centred interventions for babies, children, adolescents, and their families.
4. Demonstrate a professional and autonomous approach to dietetic practice.
Content
The course consists of the following modules/content;
- Infant and child nutrition
- Nutrition in common paediatric diseases and conditions
- Paediatric nutrition support
- Nutrition and mental health for children, adolescents and young people
- Communicating Nutrition messages to children, adolescents, young people and families.
Requisite
This course is only available to students enrolled in the [12339] B Nutrition & Dietetics (Honours) program.
