The course will provide a historical and analytical study of film music.

Objectives At the conclusion of the semester, students will be required to demonstrate skills and understanding of:
* socio-cultural influences on various genres of film music
* the musical language
* stylistic origins
Content Film music will be studied in reference to
* an overview of its development
* an in-depth study of socio-cultural influences
* an analysis of musical style
* a study of the relationship between music and dramatic devices used in film
