This course examines the use of music-related media in a variety of electronic formats (such as audio, MIDI, animations, graphics, video, etc). Students will undertake media research and production tasks to locate, analyse, modify and create material that may be used in musical applications (for example, music video clips). Compilation of this material will culminate in a music project demonstrating the practical application of the media produced.
ObjectivesBy the end of this course, students will be expected to: 1. demonstrate the skills required to source and create musical multimedia material 2. demonstrate a comprehension of various media manipulation software packages 3. demonstrate an understanding of the constructional approaches used in music-oriented multimedia presentations (for example, musical-based slideshows) 4. demonstrate the ability to combine various forms of digital media into a cohesive form 5. demonstrate the ability to use email, access web-based resources and to participate in electronic discussion groups | ||||
ContentTopics may include (but are not limited to): - Editing music digitally for use in digital media presentations - The combination of several types of digital media material into cohesive forms (such as sound and pictures) - Editing graphics (such as musical notation) - Usage of music and video file formats (such as MIDI, MP3 and MPG files) - Web based multimedia resources - Timelines and visual synchronisation to music | ||||
