This course discusses the principles and operation of equipment used in diagnostic radiography.

Objectives At the completion of this course, diagnostic radiography students shall be able to:

1. Discuss relevant image quality terminology and measurments
2. Describe the equipment used in mammography
3. Discuss the principles of fluoroscopy
4. Explain interventional radiography and the hazards that need special consideration.
5. Discuss the different pieces of equipment needed to undertake quality control measurements in ALL diagnostic radiography modalities
6. Explain the different tests used in QC and interpret the results
7. Describe the radiation protection principles
8. Discuss radiation protection of staff, members of the public and patients
9. Describe and compare the different methods used in radiation dosimetry
10. Discuss the current changes occuring in medical imaging

Transition Transitional arrangements will be done on a case-by-case basis. It is estimated that only 2-3 students will need transition between the old and new course.

Online Learning Activities Student are required to read 2 research papers on Computed Radiography.
They are then required to post onto BB, the 5 moost important things that they learnt from the readings.
Other: (please specify) In order to pass this course, the student must obtain at least an average of 50% and a minimum of 40% in any assessment.
