Corporate and Industry Strategies

Assists students to acquire knowledge and skills at an advanced level in the development and implementation of corporate and industry strategies, with particular reference to business models, business strategies, public policy, business ethics and social responsibility.

Objectives The objectives of this course are to ensure that students can:

1. develop and extend their understanding of corporate and industry business models and strategies
2. demonstrate familiarity with relevant public policies, professional codes of business conduct and issues of corporate social responsibility, and expand their capability to monitor developments in relevant policies, codes and issues
3. demonstrate familiarity with principles relating to application of public policy, business ethics and corporate social responsibility and how to apply these principles
4. expand their capability to determine business models and strategies appropriate to a particular business context
5. develop their capability to plan for implementation of business models and strategies, to analyse the applicability of these models and strategies for a particular business context, and to revise these as required by changing circumstances
6. develop their capacity to evaluate and assess corporate and industry strategies
Content 1. Corporate and industry strategies, including business models and business strategies
2. Relevant public policies, professional codes of business conduct and issues of corporate social responsibility
3. How to monitor developments in relevant policies, codes and issues
4. Principles relating to application of public policy, business ethics and corporate social responsibility and how to apply these principles
5. Determining business models and strategies appropriate for a particular business context
6. Planning for implementation of business models and strategies
7. Analysing the applicability of business models and strategies in a particular business context and revising as required by changing circumstances
8. Evaluating and assessing corporate and industry strategies
