At successful completion of this course, students will demonstrate an advanced understanding of:
1. International and national public policy reforms for securing healthier communities
2. Contemporary models of care that integrate public health with primary care organised
around people’s needs and expectations so as to make them more socially relevant and more responsive
3 The interaction between communities and their social and physical environment and the ways in which these factors may impact on a person’s clinical presentation, access to health care and ability to comply to with a health plan within rural and remote areas.
4 How history, social and cultural determinants of health might affect a person’s current health status
5 Individualised models of care with an emphasizes on wellness and healing of the entire
person (bio-psycho-socio-spiritual dimensions) as primary goals
6 Epidemiology, public health issues and risk factor management of common conditions seen in primary health care
7 Clinical governance and primary health care

Module 3. Models of Primary Case Management and Integrative Care
