Participants will develop knowledge and skills in the assessment and team management of physical, psychological, communication, cognitive, perceptual, occupational and socioeconomic problems following stroke. They will also learn about the mechanisms that are foundational to recovery from stroke and factors that contribute towards better recovery outcomes. This course will cover management from the sub-acute phase through to the chronic phase and including community reintegration.
| Objectives | Upon completion of this course participants will: 1. Have the skills to apply an evidence-based approach to the physical, psychological, communication, cognitive, perceptual, occupational and socioeconomic impact of stroke, using a multi-professional team approach. 2. Identify patterns of recovery and their potential impact on a stroke survivor's social context. 3. Be familiar with the outcome measures ordinarily used in stroke rehabilitation and their validity, utility and limitations. 4. Understand the mechanisms foundational to long-term stroke recovery. |
