Provides specialist knowledge about the principles and methods of psychiatric epidemiology and the related discipline of social psychiatry. The subject consists of 11 modules.

Objectives It is assumed that student have core skills in epidemiology and bistatistics and are able to critically appraise psychiatric literature.

Module 1: Introduction to social psychiatry and psychiatric epidemiology
Module 2: Epidemiology of psychiatric disorder
Module 3: Social determinants of psychiatric disorder
Module 4: Developmental influences in psychiatric disorder
Module 5: Developmental influences in psychiatric disorder
Module 6: Life events, and psychiatric disorder
Module 7: Social consequences of psychiatric disorder
Module 8: Services for people with a psychiatric condition
Module 9: Management of psychiatric disorders
