This subject is designed to provide candidates with a systematic approach to the clinical assessment of pain, in terms of its biomedical dimensions, using techniques that have been critically evaluated for reliability and validity. This subjct does not preclude enrollment in other subjects.
| Objectives | to be able to state and implement systematically means of obtaining information about patients with pain in terms of history, examination and iinvestigations. To assess the reliability and validity of actions and tests that might be used in this regard. By assessing their previous trainig and experience to identify those tests of disproven, proven and unknown relability and validity. To judge what tests are, therefore, approriate for their own practice. To assess and comment on the practices of others in this regard. To design studis to evaluate the reliability and validity of new or understood diagnostic tests. |
