This course is for undergraduate students in health-related programs. You will be introduced to stroke risk, onset, management and recovery. This course will use a multi-professional, team approach to the learning experience by taking full advantage of the fact that students are from diverse health-related programs. Also, this course will have contributions from tutors and clinicians who are also from various professional programs. The course will provide you with an introductory-level of knowledge and understanding of stroke management. It will use an evidence-based approach to the learning experience utilizing the most up-to-date research and clinical guidelines as the primary source of teaching. A series of case studies and clinical scenarios will be used to apply a problem-solving approach to learning. This will be further enhanced by discussion forums which promote a rich, collaborative educational environment. This course is fully on-line and available as an elective for students who have an interest in improving outcomes for those at risk of, or directly affected by, stroke.
